Is Chiropractic Safe if a Man Doesn't have Major Back or Neck Issues?

As a semi-retired chiropractor I still get a lot of questions about my chosen profession and how “safe” it is. Many men have asked, for example, whether it’s safe to get chiropractic adjustments even if you’re “healthy” and dont have any outward signs of spine problems, especially major back or neck issues.

The short answer is that, yes, it is safe to get your spine adjusted by a chiropractor even if you don't have major back or neck issues. In fact, I always tell my patients to come in even if they feel great, because I believe regular adjustments of the spine will keep your body in prime condition. I adjust my 10-year-old daughter’s spine regularly, for example, so that she can be as healthy as possible. (She loves getting her back “cracked”.) I also see my chiropractor once or twice a month.

As we chiropractors are fond of saying, “a healthy spine equals a healthy life.”

The fact is, chiropractic adjustments are sought by millions of people who want to maintain their overall health. These patients want to improve and maintain excellent posture, enhance and maintain their mobility, and prevent future spine problems like bulging and herniated discs, sciatica, headaches, migraines, and many other health issues.

In other words, whether they “feel bad” or not, these patients seek chiropractic care to prevent health problems from happening. They know that regular adjustments help maintain the alignment of their spinal vertebrae, keep their spinal discs healthy, keep their nerves from being pinched, and prevent a wide variety of future health issues.

It's essential, of course, to find a well-trained, licensed, and experienced chiropractor. One who can take excellent x-rays, has superb diagnostic skills, and, most importantly, has healing hands. If you do, stick with that Doc and let them help you stay in peak condition!

Final Thoughts on Whether Chiropractic is Safe if a Man Doesn't have Major Back or Neck Issues

I and my fellow chiropractors always suggest getting your back adjusted regularly, throughout your lifetime. For me, I can tell you that my happiest patients are those who came in regularly, pain or no pain.
